Hiya guys! It’s been a while since a tasty food post so here you go…drumroll…Chicken Shawarma! I like middle eastern food and I don’t know how legit this recipe is but it was delish!
INGREDIENTS:
For the Chicken:
2 teaspoons Cumin
1 teaspoon Corriander
1/2 teaspoon Tumeric
1/2 teaspoon Garlic Powder
1/4 teaspoon Onion Powder
1/4 teaspoon Paprika
1/4 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper
1 tablespoon lime juice
3 boneless Chicken Thighs
Pita Bread (4 pack)
For the “Tzatziki” sauce:
1/4 cup Sour Cream or Plain Yogurt
1/2 tablespoon Dill (fresh or dry)
1 Lime
Salt and Pepper
Ok ok so its not real Tzatziki sauce that’s why it’s in quotes. It’s more of a very loose and fast version.
Toppings:
Cucumber
Tomato
Mix the dry spices for the chicken, cumin, corriander, tumeric, garlic, onion, paprika, and cayenne. Rub into both sides of chicken then place in a shallow bowl and marinate in lime juice.
For the “tzatziki” sauce, mix the sour cream, dill, and juice from 1 lime. Add salt and pepper to taste. Combine well.
Heat up some oil in a skillet over medium heat and cook chicken golden brown. While the chicken is cooking chop up some cucumber and tomato. Remove chicken once cooked, let cool, and slice up.
In a clean skillet or comal (I’m Mexican and this is the way I heat up tortillas), heat up the pita bread.
Top pita with chicken, cucumber, tomato, and “tzatziki”. Eat like taco.
Yum!
It was super good and definitely hit the spot and satisfied my craving for middle eastern food. And it only took about 20 min to make, nothing says happy meal like one that is both fast and easy to throw together.
I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
Share pics of your dish!
Love,
B
